Our first visit to At Melissa's will probably be the first of many. A sign that Melissa has hanged from the ceiling says, "Arrive as Guests, Leave as Friends." That is truly how we felt after our weekend stay.
Melissa is 20 years established, and her experience shines through every window of her happy house. The atmosphere is relaxed, the whole dang place is clean enough for surgery, and your hostess exudes such a genuine warmth that she could teach a doctorate on hospitality.
Melissa's was awesome I would stay there again. It's like your home when your at Melissa's and she everything you would need for stay and to go the beach
Oops, just did the math, this is our sixth visit. =)
Did I mention she's also two blocks from the beach? Yeah. That too. Just book your stay already.
Melissa provides for your every, beachy need: Private outdoor shower with clean towels, foldable chairs, umbrellas, beach toys, tote bags, and - AMAZINGLY - totally free, all-day, all-night, BEER and WINE! Yes, really! Relax in your spotless clean, spacious room, or in the cozy sitting room, or on the front porch, and drink yourself happy at no additional cost. It was as great as it sounds.
Now, about that beer, and the rest of Melissa's food offerings: all gluten free. Did that matter to me or my family? Nope. None of us are on a gluten-free diet of any kind, for any reason. Then why mention it? Because Melissa's breakfast spreads, snacks, beer and wine are so delicious and satisfying, none of us gluten-gobbling folks even noticed! That is seriously impressive to me. I happily chowed down on bread, cake, hash browns, quiches, and waffles - OH, the WAFFLES - and not a gluten in sight. Never missed 'em.
Bottom line, the experience of staying in a hotel that felt like crashing at the pad of an old friend far exceeded the monetary value of the price paid. That sense of value was magnified by the never-ending, free beer and wine. And the gluten-free food was prepared with such skill and quality that a gang of wheat-eaters cleaned our plates every morning, smiling and satisfied.
This is our third year staying At Melissa's as a family. We always stay in room #4, composed of the entire third floor of the house. With space for a large family this room includes a private bathroom with a shower. As a family with dietary restrictions, we're thankful for the selection of gluten-free options at breakfast, as well as snacks and drinks throughout the day. The large front porch calls for a relaxing afternoon with a book when not at the beach, which is only a block away. In the evening sit in the back with an adult beverage and make new friends among the fellow guests. Always a great vacation, At Melissa's is becoming a home away from home in Rehoboth Beach.
We love it here! Our 3rd year straight and it seems just like being at home, only better because we are so Relaxed!!! Great big, clean and comfortable beds. Relaxing porch and free parking!! The amenities offered for beach going or even for making dinner at the house are top notch!
Our fourth visit, Melissa never fails to pay attention to the little details. The furniture is a little worn and comfy, and fits perfectly. Attention is high on little things like the outdoor shower you wish you had at home, or perfect food, soap that smells better than your own, a constant flow of little treats, or the quietly non-kitsch decor.
