As creative as the menu sounds, this really is still nothing more than dressed up bar food. Yeah I did okay
The wedge salad was a nice size, but pretty sparse with the toppings that are what elevate and otherwise ordinary iceberg lettuce. We ordered it topped with flat iron steak that came out rarer than we had ordered. The steak was completely without seasoning unfortunately.
I had a very nice meal. Short Ribs were excellent. I should have seen that it came with sweet potatoes, not a fan. Waitress was great. I will come back.
Lastly, we dined when it was not at all busy, but the service was very friendly but also very slow and inattentive. Three times we had to try to get our waitress's attention to order, get drink refills, etc. I had actually wanted to order a beer with my wings, but she never came back til after the wings came out.
We were seated in the bar area, even though we have a younger child and regular tables were available. It was burger night, and they must have cooked a bunch ahead of time, because our 'medium-well' burgers were Way past well done. The only reason they got 2 stars is that the manager coaxed me into reordering, and the burger was served the way it was originally supposed to be. It was even shaped differently. Not the same standard of service that we received last year.
All in all, we need to make another visit and try again. Maybe when they are busier they pay more attention to the food and service?
Onion soup was not terrible, but not great either. Rather small soup crock, expected something larger like other restaurants. Instead of the usual sliced croute topped with cheese, there were three, maybe four little salad croutons used instead. Okay, but they could have used a few more.
The wings were surprisingly fresh and juicy, but definitely lacked seasoning. Even with the sauce they put on, you could tell no one had bothered actually seasoning the chicken. S&P and a request for some hot sauce improved them drastically.
An only okay craft beer selection, there are definitely better Selections in town . Surprisingly the "special" beer menu included Miller Lite.
Bad news:
The menu was creative and interesting, with a short rib grilled cheese, warm brussel sprouts Caesar salad, and Ruben nachos. However the soup of the day repulsed me. Smoked salmon chowder??? Sounds like they just had to use up the leftover smoked salmon from the BLTs that was going bad.
Great food, great service, friendly bar staff and waitresses. On Friday nights they have talented entertainment to enjoy also. The chef does an excellent job of keeping the nightly specials interesting and tasteful. Oh, best wings around. Frank Purdue would be proud. The wing sauce is by far the best I ever tasted.
First time there, not very impressed. The good news: nicely decorated, plenty of parking, very comfortable seating in the bar room. Especially loved the booth high tops.
They had a party room as well that was having a private luncheon for at least 30 people so that's good to know.
I can’t believe this place has negative reviews. Let me tell you something I am not an easy person to please and am incredibly impatient. I come to Forgotten Mile nearly every time I am in town, which is monthly and never had a bad experience. The food is great, the atmosphere is great and the service is great. Hats off to the Chef who continues to put out new menus and keeps things interesting, I highly recommend this establishment.
