Very friendly environment... just not to me! I walked in just now to look for sports khakis for my husband, who is coaching a high school football game tomorrow. There was one young lady working. When I walked past her, she just looked straight at my face and watched me walk past searching for something. I smiled and assumed it was because she was talking to a lady looking at sneakers. So I walk through the store with no luck, passing her again to go back to the front of the store. RIGHT BEFORE I walk out the store, an older couple walks in and she yells from halfway through the store, "Hello, how are you?!"... My blood began to boil and I walked right out of the store before I acted just as RUDE and UNETHICAL as this "employee" with TERRIBLE customer service skills. I'm certain this whole interaction can be viewed on their store camera if any of their managers ever stumble across my review on this store and actually care. The good in me reason that there may have been several reasons she didn't speak to me, but I have no way to excuse why it was just me she treated this way other than the obvious difference of my skin color because I really can't see what else was different in me as a customer. NEVER would I want to address this as a race issue, but to say these things don't happen would be a lie. Whether that was it or not, that's how I felt in this moment and it took me back to a place I haven't really dealt with but once in the past ten years. I was ashamed in humanity in this moment, Asics as a company for this hire, and honestly... it hurt!
