There was another party of about 6 people who had a table near us and they said they ran into the same problem. Bought tickets in October and expected booth away from door near the band and also told there was a "mixup". They left before 11:00 because it was too cold for them to remove their coats and told us they would not come back again. So there's 10 customers lost because of these "mixups". Even if the owner came over and apologized and explained what happened and MAYBE bought a round of drinks we would have left with a more positive feeling. But let me make it very clear yet again that we will NOT be back. BTW...our waiter was a very nice young man and did his best, but the arrogance of the owner last night was enough to keep us away permanently. If you make promises it might be wise to actually deliver.
Party started at 9:00 and we arrived at 8:30, place was about 1/3 full at that time. We were seated at booth on floor closest to the door. We asked about the booth he promised and owner said "there was a "mixup" and dismissed us saying "well, you have a booth." BTW...the promised booth was set up but did not seem to be occupied at the time.
Four of us were at Hooked last night for New Years Eve. We bought tickets from the owner weeks before event for $110/person, and when we asked him about seating he said he would seat us in the bar area in a booth close to dance floor and band. He actually pointed out the booth he said he would reserve for us.
Hooked was over priced had poor quality food and extremely disrespectful management and staff with the exception of our server Sean( I apologize if this isn't the correct spelling of his name). Starting from the second we walked in where there was only about 3-4 tables with customers. We were early and waited while they fumbled for our reservations then walked us to our booth and had to ask some of their staff to move off of their step so we could pass then the maitre'd fumbled to place 6 menus while standing in our way not allowing us to be seated first. Three of us showed up at 5:45 for a 6pm seating, (we are locals) then my other family showed up at 6:05 but at 6:02 they were asking where was the balance of our party just extremely poor customer service. FYI the restaurant was less than HALF full so we were in no way affecting business. We did come here last year and the place was full! I suspect they figured out sooner then myself that their money was better spent elsewhere! The next seating was wasn't till 8:45 and we felt rushed the entire time. We were informed that the tip (20%)was included in the bill which ours came to over $420 for 6 people and maybe 2 rounds of drinks so it was top dollar. Our meal was a 2 on a scale of 10, the soup was lukewarm and lacking crab,3 of us had that and their tuna appetizer tasted like basic tuna from a can, fishy and blah! Their main course was not any better, 4 of us had the Filet roumulade which came out as a SMALL flat iron steak with asparagus and gorgonzola cheese wrapped in it and it was approximately 1 1/2 inch across and 3" long cut in half and when served it was sliced in half and could have had a toothpick in it and served as an appetizer! It was lukewarm too. The other main course was Salmon and it was average in size but it too was just warm not hot! So the main course SUCKED and let me say this I have always liked Hooked and touted how good they were but no more so now for the PITTIFUL desert of which 3 of us got chocolate bread pudding and let me say the tiny drizzle of chocolate sauce didn't constitute chocolate bread pudding! the 2 x2 3/4 tall piece of COLD bread served with a teaspoon of Whipped cream SUCKED! Now the crème brule was also a mini version that was not caramelized on any of the 3 we had! Come on hooked give me a break then to finish out our meal while talking after dinner aroung 7:50 the manager came over said yes we were being TOLD we had to leave because someone was ready for our table and then he abruptly turned away while we were talking to him, SO UNPROFESSIONAL! Anyway we are cutting the line to hooked and we will tell all we know their poor service, and excessive pricing for lesser quality food will no longer get our support. My suggestion look around there are many better restaurants in the area that want your business and rest assured next year we will NOT patronize Hooked!
I've never written a review before this. We just left this place. Service was outstanding, food was off the charts and entertainment was superb. Brian Clark is a great entertainer!! I've been going here off and on for the past 5 years. Always had a great experience. This is definitely an hidden treasure in the Rehoboth Beach area. Got to experience this place to appreciate it.
I have been coming here for 4 years and it is the best quality spot in town. You will be treated like family as soon as you enter the door, and the food is second to none. Not to mention the martini selection!!!!!!
I want to clarify that we are not strangers to Hooked, we live in Rehoboth and all four of us patronized Hooked for years. We will not do so again. It was freezing by the door because people kept going in and out to smoke; and we had to keep our jackets on while seated. I also want to say that if he told us when we bought tickets that's the booth we would have, we would have gone elsewhere.
Went to Hooked Seafood & Martini Bar last night. Awesome new menu items! The Shrimp and Chiorzi Sausage was exceptional! Staff is welcoming and service was great.
